Jim Montgomery ~ DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE

After serving 33 years in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Dental Technician Corps, Jim decided to embark on a second career as an RMT. Jim graduated from in 2018 from Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies Inc. He found massage therapy to be a benefit to his health throughout the years and as a healthcare provider it felt like a natural fit as he embarked on a new career.

Jim has a strong interest in the massage therapy profession and feels that he can use his past experience to assist the MTAM Board in promoting and advancing the field of massage therapy in Manitoba.

What do you like best about being an RMT?
I worked in healthcare in my previous career so it was an natural transition to choose massage therapy as a new career. It brings me joy to be able to help others with their health and wellness.

What advice would you give new RMTs?
I would tell new therapists to trust their abilities and be patient with themselves as they develop their skills.

Why did you choose to join MTAM?
I chose MTAM because of the availability of professional development opportunities and the practice support available to members.

What's your favourite MTAM member benefit?
I enjoy making use of the Diamond Deals which are part of the Affinity Partner discount progam. Getting discounts on clinic supplies is great!
